Infinitec is the assistive technology program of UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago. The program leverages the power of technology to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.
Since 1997 Infinitec has been on a mission to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities through technology.
Infinitec helps people with disabilities get access to information, technology services, training, assistive equipment and specialists. By creating partnerships with other organizations, the Infinitec staff makes these services and technologies more widely available to everyone who can benefit from them.

The UCP Seguin Infinitec Staff is comprised of administrators, educators, speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, assistive technology specialists, video specialists, vision specialists and parents. It is our great pleasure to serve educational staff members throughout Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.

Richard Brown has been an educator and industry leader since 1982 working with teams and systems in schools, institutional, and community settings. He is a transformative collaborator who works with leaders in the fields of education, habilitation, social services, recreation, and assistive technology. In 1995 Richard went to work with UCP Seguin-Infinitec as an Education Director, Trainer, AT Specialist, and Consultant. He is presently the Executive Director of Infinitec , Employment & Recreation. Richard's experiences are at the center of his beliefs that education is a life-long journey that requires the talents of the whole team. He is passionate about technology and its ability to level the playing field for all citizens to actively participate in school, work, and play. Read Less

Peggy Childs earned her masters at University of Arizona in the area of Learning Disabilities and her B.A. in psychology at St. Louis University. She has been a teacher, principal, director of special education, trainer and consultant in school districts and special education cooperatives. Read More
Peggy Childs earned her masters at University of Arizona in the area of Learning Disabilities and her B.A. in psychology at St. Louis University. She has been a teacher, principal, director of special education, trainer and consultant in school districts and special education cooperatives. During her work experience as a school leader she was committed to creating systems change that supported best practices for students with disabilities. Since 1994, Peggy has been employed by United Cerebral Palsy Seguin of Greater Chicago/Infinitec as the Executive Vice President. In this position, Peggy has offered leadership in creating partnerships, training programs and infrastructure that provide state of the art information and technology resources to empower children and adults with disabilities. She was formally recognized for her work in education in January 2008. The Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE) presented Peggy with the "Innovative Practices Award" for her leadership in creating Infinitec Assistive Technology coalitions. Currently the Infinitec Coalition model has been expanded to serve 1000+ school districts in Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, etc. Read Less

Jennifer works for UCP-Infinitec as an Assistive Technology Facilitator and has been in the field of assistive technology for over 20 years. She performs collaborations, provides trainings and coordinated webinars in the past. Jennifer received a Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders from Eastern Illinois University and received a M.S. in Disability and Human Development from the University of Illinois - Chicago (UIC). Her area of specialization was Rehabilitation/Assistive Technology, and she completed a Graduate Assistantship with UIC's Assistive Technology Unit (ATU). After graduation she worked at Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization (NSSEO) as an Assistive Technology Facilitator. While there she supported the assistive technology needs of students with severe physical disabilities, students with Autism and learning disabilities. She also supported staff through trainings and the implementation of assistive technology. Jennifer was also a visiting clinical instructor and fieldwork coordinator at UIC, Assistive Technology Certificate Program (ATCP). Read Less

She began her career in the classroom as a special education teacher. She has worked with children and adults with significant cognitive and physical disabilities from four to seventy-four years of age. Peggy has worked for United Cerebral Palsy Seguin / Infinitec as an Assitive Technology Specialist providing staff development and training in the area of technology integration. In Peggy's position as Senior Director of Infinitec Programs, her primary focus has been to collaborate with school districts as well as State Departments to provide quality professional learning to educators, paraprofessionals, SLPs, OTs, AT Specialists, Social Workers, School Psychologists, Administrators and Parents in multiple states. She is committed to staying abreast of the educational initiatives as well as the current trends in education with regard to technology and how it can be utilized to support all learners. Read Less

Since 1989, Greg has served as Sr. Director of Programs with the Assistive Technology Exchange Network where he supervises the redeployment of refurbished computers to individuals with disabilities in the State of Illinois. Greg is an active member with the Illinois Recycling Association and has worked with Dell and HP to secure donations of technology for reuse. Since inception of the program, over five hundred thousand tons of computer electronics have been diverted from landfills. Read Less

While completing her graduate coursework she participated in the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Personnel Preparation grant, and was a course instructor for undergraduate classes in special education and a teaching assistant for a graduate course in AAC. Her previous work experience includes teaching in elementary special education classrooms, and working as an AAC Consultant and as an Assistive Technology Specialist for school districts. Samantha works for UCP/Seguin as an Assistive Technology Facilitator. She collaborates and provides technical assistance to classroom teams to support the integration of assistive technology for students, and provides training on a variety of topics related to assistive technology. Shonda earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She earned her M.S. Ed in Special Education from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. Beginning her education career in 1995, most of Shonda’s experience has been as a special education teacher and at-risk interventionist in Kansas and Iowa. She has taught in elementary, middle school, high school and alternative settings. Since 2010, she has worked collaboratively with the Kansas State Department of Education’s Technical Assistance System Network in providing training and support to schools and districts. Shonda is passionate about inclusive education. In 2015 she joined the Infinitec team and provides training and coaching in many areas including: Universal Design for Learning, co-teaching, differentiated instruction, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, coaching and the implementation of evidence-based teaching and learning strategies. Cindy Malone graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelors in Communication Science in Disorders and the University of Kansas with a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology in 2002. Cindy was a member of the Communication Autism Project (CAP) at the University of Kansas and received additional training in Autism and Augmentative Alternative Communication. She served children and families as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) on the Indiana School of Medicine Cochlear Implant team, Leavenworth County Early Childhood Special Education team and most recently the Keystone Learning Services team. Through her multiple SLP positions she specialized in early intervention, supporting children with autism and cochlear implants. Cindy led teams as an Autism Team Coordinator and Assistive Technology Team Coordinator throughout her career. Team collaboration and student centered technology planning have played a significant role in the services Cindy provided to children and families. Currently Cindy supports students, staff, schools and families in Kansas as the Kansas Infinitec Assistive Technology Facilitator and Trainer. Read Less

Moving into product development, Steve found his passion and was responsible for the design, development and go-to-market strategies for a number of award winning, enterprise, healthcare technology products. At Infinitec, Steve focuses on the development and management of technology based programs and online software applications available to organizations who are members of the Infinitec coalition. Shannon Cici has worked with UCP-Infinitec since 2000. Upon graduating from St. Joseph's College with a B.S. in Sociology and a B.A. in Human Services, she began her career as a Program Supervisor in UCP-Infinitec's Adult Services with a special interest in fostering independence through technology. During that time she also worked in the Adult Recreation Program by facilitating independence in the community. Starting July 2005, Shannon became a Lekotek Leader/Play Specialist serving families who have children with disabilities by bringing them together & fostering growth through play. In 2008, Shannon ran UCP-Infinitec's Coalition Equipment Rental library. She has provided equipment & ongoing technical support to Infinitec's Coalition members. She has worked in the assistive technology field since 1988. She has been employed as an OT instructor at Washington University and later entered the field as an AT Specialist where she worked in St. Clair County, IL and St. Louis County Special School District. She has also worked at the state level for the Minnesota Department of Education as the AT and UDL Specialist. Mary currently lives in Fort Collins, CO. She began working for Infinitec in January, 2009 completing regional trainings, collaborations and technical assistance. She has had the opportunity to work with individuals in the public school, private practice and non-profit settings and has participated as a member of several multidisciplinary teams. At Infinitec, she collaborates with IEP teams to provide augmentative and alternative communication support through student assessment and communication partner training and coaching. She is also a member of the Infinitec Outstanding Student Awards Winner team which honors the achievements of students who use technology to achieve educational success. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, Amy served as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) to help establish after school programs for students in high-needs school districts. Amy earned her Master's degree in Education from Concordia University Chicago. Amy has taught students at the high school and middle school levels, across all subject areas. Her favorite subject to teach was English/Language Arts to help students develop a love of language and reading. Amy joined Infinitec in 2011 as the Assistive Technology Equipment Librarian. Amy procures and manages the wide array of items in Infinitec's library of assistive technology equipment and works with school liaisons to help them access these devices for the special-needs students in their districts. Vicki Pray earned her B.S. in Special Education and Elementary Education in the area of Visually Impaired and her M.S. Ed in the area of Multiple Disabilities. She began her career serving students with significant multiple disabilities who were not served in public schools. She taught students with significant multiple disabilities and then supervised teachers of students with visual impairments as well as teachers of students with multiple disabilities. She has also been a consultant in special education. She became the Director of Technology at the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL), and then moved into the role of Principal of a center-based school within SEDOL that served students with severe/profound disabilities. Amanda Wydeveld-Khan is a Speech-Language Pathologist with 14+ years of experience working with individuals who have complex communication needs. She first fell in love with Augmentative and Alternative Communication while working as a paraprofessional with a student who utilized a high-tech AAC device. She went on to receive her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. Amanda trained under John Costello, MA, CCC-SLP in the Augmentative Communication Program at Boston Children’s Hospital at Waltham. Since receiving her degree, she has worked with individuals across the lifespan, providing direct, collaborative, coaching, and training-based services as part of interdisciplinary teams. Amanda has worked in a variety of settings, including out in the community and in schools, clinics, homes, and residential facilities. Marie-Paule Carpenter graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, both in speech-language pathology, and an Advanced Certificate of Study in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University. She worked for more than 30 years as a speech-language pathologist in public education in Vernon Hills and Evanston-Skokie School Districts. For the last 5 years, she worked as an assistive technology coordinator for Evanston elementary schools. She provided consultations, individualized assessments, staff development, and collaborated with school teams to customize the implementation of assistive technology support for students with mild to complex needs. After retiring from public education in 2021, Marie-Paule joined Infinitec. In her position as a professional learning coordinator, she plans, coordinates, and manages staff development opportunities with nationally known speakers in assistive technology and special education.
