Our mission is to empower the people who power the technology through professional learning opportunities, capacity building, expert resources, and access to equipment.
Infinitec is the technology program of UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago. Since 1997, we have utilized the power of assistive technology to advance independence and promote inclusive opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.
We help school districts and social service agencies access the professional learning, technology services, assistive equipment and specialists they need to support people of diverse abilities. Through these partnerships, our staff makes these services and technologies more widely available to everyone.

Peggy Childs earned her masters at University of Arizona in the area of Learning Disabilities and her B.A. in psychology at St. Louis University. She has been a teacher, principal, director of special education, trainer and consultant in school districts and special education cooperatives. During her work experience as a school leader she was committed to creating systems change that supported best practices for students with disabilities. Since 1994, Peggy has been employed by United Cerebral Palsy Seguin of Greater Chicago/Infinitec as the Executive Vice President. In this position, Peggy has offered leadership in creating partnerships, training programs and infrastructure that provide state of the art information and technology resources to empower children and adults with disabilities. She was formally recognized for her work in education in January 2008. The Illinois Alliance of Administrators of Special Education (IAASE) presented Peggy with the "Innovative Practices Award" for her leadership in creating Infinitec Assistive Technology coalitions. Currently the Infinitec Coalition model has been expanded to serve 1000+ school districts in Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, etc. Read Less

Jennifer serves as Senior Assistive Technology Facilitator and Director of Infinitec Services at UCP-Infinitec. She leads assistive technology (A.T.) collaborations and provides professional learning for school staff; identifying tools and strategies that support all learners. As Director of Infinitec Services, Jennifer collaborates with members to meet their unique goals while ensuring Infinitec’s programs remain accessible, relevant, and aligned with the organization’s mission to promote inclusion. Prior to joining Infinitec, Jennifer worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) as the Fieldwork Coordinator for the A.T. Certificate Program. She also served as an A.T. Facilitator at the Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization (NSSEO) and the Lockport Area Special Education Cooperative, where she provided services to students with complex needs, high-incidence disabilities, and autism. Jennifer earned her B.A. in Communication Disorders from Eastern Illinois University and her M.S. in Disability and Human Development from UIC, specializing in Rehabilitation/ A.T. Greg is an active member with the Illinois Recycling Association and has worked with Dell and HP to secure donations of technology for reuse. Beth serves as the Kansas Infinitec Program Director, bringing over 15 years of experience in speech-language pathology and assistive technology. A graduate of Fort Hays State University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communication Disorders, Beth previously worked across multiple Kansas Special Education Cooperatives as a K–12 Speech-Language Pathologist, Assistive Technology Team Coordinator, and leader on autism interdisciplinary and diagnostic teams. She has shared her passion for strengthening sustainable assistive technology practices through presentations at statewide and national conferences, including the Kansas Speech Language Hearing Association (KSHA), OCALICON, and Closing the Gap. Beth’s commitment to field extends beyond her work with Infinitec; she remains closely connected to students and families in rural Kansas through a private practice, where she provides speech and language therapy with a focus on assistive technology support. While completing her graduate coursework she participated in the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Personnel Preparation grant, and was a course instructor for undergraduate classes in special education and a teaching assistant for a graduate course in AAC. Her previous work experience includes teaching in elementary special education classrooms, and working as an AAC Consultant and as an Assistive Technology Specialist for school districts. During that time she also worked in the Adult Recreation Program by facilitating independence in the community. Starting July 2005, Shannon became a Lekotek Leader/Play Specialist serving families who have children with disabilities by bringing them together & fostering growth through play. In 2008, Shannon ran UCP-Infinitec's Coalition Equipment Rental library. She has provided equipment & ongoing technical support to Infinitec's Coalition members. She has been employed as an OT instructor at Washington University and later entered the field as an AT Specialist where she worked in St. Clair County, IL and St. Louis County Special School District. She has also worked at the state level for the Minnesota Department of Education as the AT and UDL Specialist. Mary currently lives in Fort Collins, CO. She began working for Infinitec in January, 2009 completing regional trainings, collaborations and technical assistance. Heather Miller Schwarz, MS, CCC-SLP is a Speech-Language Pathologist with 25 years of experience supporting individuals with complex communication needs. She has worked across diverse settings, including public schools, private practice, and non-profit organizations, and has served as a member of both IEP and assistive technology teams. Currently, she holds the role of Assistive Technology Lead for Collaborations and Trainings at a UCP Seguin- Infinitec, where she partners with IEP teams to deliver AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) support through comprehensive student assessments and communication partner coaching and training. Heather has presented at local conferences in Illinois in addition to Closing the Gap, SWAAC and the Illinois Speech Hearing and Language Association Conferences. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, Amy served as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteer In Service To America) to help establish after school programs for students in high-needs school districts. After several years in the VISTA program, Amy earned her Master's degree in Education from Concordia University Chicago. Amy has taught students at the high school and middle school levels, across all subject areas. Her favorite subject to teach was English/Language Arts to help students develop a love of language and reading. Amy joined Infinitec in 2011 as the Assistive Technology Equipment Librarian. Amy procures and manages the wide array of items in Infinitec's library of assistive technology equipment and works with school liaisons to help them access these devices for their students. Meg began her career as a classroom teacher, teaching second, third, fourth, and sixth grades. From there, she served as an instructional coach before becoming an independent consultant. In Illinois, she's traveled across the state so often that even Google Maps couldn’t keep up. Nationally, she has presented in 46 states, and internationally and had the privilege of speaking in Japan, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Singapore, Spain, and Australia. Along the way, she's published 12 books, including a five-book series co-authored with 26 practicing educators. Some of her most memorable work has been with clients who are deeply committed to supporting teachers and students. One standout partnership has been with the Infinitec team. Together, we’ve done countless presentations, hosted a lively tech camp in Tinley, and even toured Kansas.
